This is not another New Year's Resolution; it's not a matter of getting sober; there wasn't a court ruling either.
The fact that over 20 bottles were left behind after Saturday's games does show there is a problem: where are all the moms and nannies to clean up after their boys? The previous record for bottles plastering the fields after the players were gone was not nearly the number it was today. After collecting the bottles, a few were thrown away but most of them were retained to be recycled.
A new proposal has been made for each player to collect their used bottles from the sidelines and put them into one pile near the street-side end zone of the middle field. Someone will collect the single gathering of unwanted bottles and properly dispose of them after the games are finished. The only other option is to disallow any bottles from being carried onto the sidelines. Novaffl does not make a profit and cannot afford to pay fines for several individuals attempting to create an Easter Egg hunt of water and sports drink bottles across three fields.
Several people do take care of their own bottles after they're finished, and that effort is much appreciated. Please continue to dispose of your own bottles or help create the bonanza of bottles pile so it's easy to clean up after the games by the volunteers who make this league possible and inexpensive.
