1. "Sixteen Candles"------Well, although this ranking is definitely prime for debate due to their strength of schedule, none of you can ignore that this team is undefeated. I was watching this group Saturday, and Bigron and company were only playing half-assed and still brought down an ass kicking on the Merks and Extrordinairres. When, I say half-assed, I mean, sluggish defense, hell Marquis was stumbling around like it was a stroll in the park, with scant flurries ahead. I found him watching other games during the midst of the activity, rooting on Sanfran. As of now, I declare Laron, the best Qb in Novaffl, as he also showed the ability to scramble this week, which bodes bad news for the rest of the league. Consistently, his passes are sharp and crisp, even if his verbal repertoire does not merit the same categorization. Moreover, the receivers, including the speedy one who used to bring his fro to the games, was catching every pass in sight. Then of course, the young dude with bangs all over his dome, also has proven his mettle in getting open. Add in a decent line, and there exists a team of contention. As an honorable shout out I need you to take a look at the dude second from the left. How are you going to play lineman at 154 pounds and fuck up the heavy 220 pound Defensive line (per person) of the extraordinaires? Seriously, this dude used his MIT leverage and techniques to drop the Big Brother on the extraordinaries to a lowly 28 second pass rush? He did it.
2. "Field generals" -----Hands Down, the best receiver core on the league. Take a look at this, San Fran, Billy, Roger Ramjet, Julius and Sean. I beg to ask this question now, where did the Coast Guard Speed additions come from? Were they on your roster (See Master Roster lists in Forums), because if Im correct they cant suffice as free agents as they never played in Lucky Luc's pickup squads, since perhaps July? So now, if this becomes precedent roster rules are out the window and we recruit anybody we want to. Trades---out in the dumpster, resignations will become rampant. League CHAOS, heh, oh wells--the rest better recruit accordingly, because impunity will make this team unbeatable with the wily san fran recruiting the speed of Nova. Now, as far as yesterday, Field Generals do not need a line. A QB who can scramble, a San Fran who caught 40 yard passes on multiple occasions, Roger Ramjet showing consistent catches, Billy the goat, and Sean, possibly the best punt returner now WB is injured. Pass rushes don't phase this team at all because of their speed. Beware Nova, your apathy in roster rules has almost run its course, and we shall adapt or face tread marks up and down our torsos.
3. “Cutters”---Excellent Team play, bolstered, by stellar performances from Tommy the Gun and Radar-Brian. This dude cannot be stopped it seems with an uncanny ability to read every play out of scrimmage. Its also apparent that he locked Dejesus down during the nonamers game. Never seen that done before. Throw in a well-balanced team, and you have some real consistency brewing. Rum and his new compatriot put to rest any questions about the line and if you look at this team's last 4 games, I wonder what was the combined score for and against? In either case, Cutters have tapped back into their stronger form from preseason, I just wonder if their attendance will hold out.
4. Briscoe High Hawks------The Brisco Hawks, though many may argue dont merit a good seeding, I suggest otherwise. Granted they are new, but this team made a huge statement practically beating the maddawgs in toto in the first half. Is there another team that runs the option better than these guys? I think not, they were capable of several plays of trickery and have tapped into a book of organization that may leave the rest of Nova shook right out of their cleats. Throw in a Quarterback, who can scramble like a mofo, and you have a solid team. Finally lets not forget their teamwork on their line. Totally blocked the hell out of the maddawg brawler, and brought corresponding pressure of their own. The biggest surprise of Week 2 by far. However as a side note, when i took their pictures, they didn't seem to know what planet they were on and couldn't remember their names. I don't know if the later effect was more from their surprise at excellence, or their indulgence in marijuana.
5. "Maddawgs"----The Dawgs, are still showing some strength, but serious questions still exist regarding their secondary. This team is continuing to give receivers too much room of the line of scrimmage. A case in point was an injured WB burning levon for 40 yards versus the conquest. This is unacceptable, but also understandable since Evan Polley went AWOl this week leaving the Bull Nick, to be one of the few lineman to deliver some pressure on opposing Qbs. Madcap's injury hasnt improved to the degree he'd like--so look for the Black Mastiff to use his Battle Cry in bringing to light, possible new recruits this week. No one compares to his recruiting skills, so be wary nova. Teams have taken advantage of his injury and have double teamed the Bull. On a side note, the Mad Baker, showed some uncommon poise, for what it appeared a single-handed dismemberment of the Conquest's tired secondary.
6. “Conquest”---A lot of drama went down considering the Conquest's, overtime win against the Nonamers, and I cant comment too extensively since i didn't get a first hand look at the game. I will say this though. When linemen jump with reckless abandon up in the air with no concern on where they fall down, it is a reasonable conclusion they will fall into the Quarterback if they do not make any mitigating football moves. So before everyone jumps on Athar, an observation needs to be made if the Nonamers line is jumping in the air and throwing caution to the wind when it comes to their rushes. Legalhit, bafundo has a short history about disregarding the Qbs safety, as seen with roughing the passer hits on week one. I cannot comment anymore on this, other than i remember BHIDD tackling Shak'n'Bake ron in the preseason to scare em. And I will personally attest to MeanGene poking Madcap in the eye (unintentionally) But Athar, with so many resounding attacks against you the question has to be raised, "Did you argue every call?" Now as far as conquest, they showed stability with consistently good line play and the resilience necessary to overcome adversity with Nova's first time OT win. The line in Algie and Ty continue to manhandle folks, but overall conquest's team is missing a bench. Without a bench, they cant maintain their terror, even with the Twins excellent play. Theo will continue as a powerful TE, but you Throw in Wbs injury, and this team will get tired in the long run. Also, I may be wrong but one of the twins is looking like they are getting fatter.
7. “Nonamers”—This team still boasts some of the more powerful weapons in the league, but problems exist with this team's management. Simply put, cuts have to be made if your players arent showing up, amenable to practices , showing up tardy, or coming to the games all out of shape. Granted they are 0-4, but the Maddawgs were there and so were conquest. It doesn't take long to turn it around, but until this team gets some cohesion, they will see some problems. Also, I caveat all objections to the Nonamers rank, under the rationale that they have had the hardest schedule in the league. Look who they have played and the combined record of the teams that beat them.
8. Upper Deckers----The Upper Deckers prior consistency will save them from dropping below the Merks this week. Why this team set precedence with their first forfeit is beyond me. Coach D, went to some stripper party was the comment of the day, and you all now see the results of his actions. The team was forced to free agent some players, and paid the price accordingly.
9. The Merks---Showed they can score, and have some new life in the ultra-liberal politico dude Dan the man Tran. As a QB he showed he could scramble a little bit, thus helping the Misfit Merks, and thats what they are, a big band of Misfits, searching for free agents, but you gotta love those dudes, ok, this team has heart, and it will be a great game to see them play the extraordinaries. Keep an eye on them and Dan the man, "Nacy pelosi fanclub", I expect you to recruit this week, contact me if you need help with recruits.
10. The “Hapless” Extraordinaires----This team showed, they can put some points on the board this week, but they are the newbies of the league so Im not going to be too hard on them. They don't seem to know what they want to do regarding QB, and their big man on the line should not have let him get his ass spanked by a 153 pounder. Either that was poor conditioning or a complete lack of heart. I hate to see the latter, but then again he did get hit up by MIT, perhaps outsmarted. keep an eye on the Zevaga brothers, as one of their WR's in conceivably their best bright point burnt the Field generals for 50 yards and a TD.
